We will consider the lives, artistic and literary contributions of this
influential group of people and their fascinating and irregular relationships as recounted in their letters, books and their art in the first half of the 20th C.
Entry Criterion
Not fixed – though best to have finished secondary education.

COMPARATIVE RELIGIONS

The course will be concerned with the history, teaching and practices of the main world religions, making comparisons and contrasts where appropriate We shall follow the classification of:(A) Ancient/animistic/primitive religions,(B) Evolutionary/rational/logical religions and (C) Revealed religions.

ENGLISH LITERATURE

Outline of Course
A study of some of the important fiction of the twentieth century. The class is a discussion group and all members are encouraged to participate. The first book for the year is D.H. Lawrence, “Sons and lovers”.

LET’S READ A PLAY

Outline of Course
A large cross section of plays will be read throughout the year with a short discussion at the end of each session on the play that has been read. All are
welcome. Reading a play is lots of fun and reading aloud is good for the Voice – keeps it well oiled.

Expectation of Participants
Payment of $3 per session to cover hire of plays and morning tea

10.00am-1.00pm first and third Monday of the month. As it is a three hour
Session, tea and coffee are provided

MEMOIR WRITING

Outline of Course
A course to encourage our motivation to write and clarify for whom we are writing. We will give each other constructive criticism to help to improve our writing and visualisation skills and give our writing “life”. For those of us who are interested, we will also investigate the possibilities of transforming memoir into fiction. The group will be limited to eight to facilitate full participation.
Entry Criterion
An interest in improving our writing.
Expectation of Participants
Willingness to complete a short “homework” assignment each week for presentation to the group. Commitment to confidentiality.

PHILOSOPHY

The course this year will be an attempt to understand the thoughts and writings of such Twentieth Century wise men as Carl Jung, Aldous Huxley, etc. Each member of the class will take a turn at preparing a presentation.
